What is a Safe Conversation?
A Safe Conversation is an educational and structured process where two people can engage in a way that feels comfortable in being able to express their inner thoughts and feelings, without criticism or judgment, where they both feel heard and understood. Founders Harville Hendrix and Helen La Kelly Hunt are also the developers of the Safe Conversation model, deciding it was too valuable to remain in the therapy office, so decided some years ago to take it out into the community and into the world.
When we engage in this manner, we do not need to make assumptions about what we think the other person is thinking, feeling or wanting. Both can express their truth and reality first-hand without negativity. Learning and putting into practice Safe Conversations can be beneficial in all relationships. Whether it be in close intimate relationships, parents and children, with colleagues, teachers and children, people in the workplace or in the community. In fact, it can be used where any two people interact. In our two-hour workshop we give you this knowledge, together with the skills needed to feel empowered and confident in being able to face any situations, to ensure there is safety and connection.
